Review Request SMS Templates

If you want more five-star reviews, text your customers. Email gets a 20% open rate on a good day. SMS hovers around 98% — and most of those texts get read within three minutes. Your customer is already on their phone, already used to tapping links, and already thinking about the service you just finished.

The problem is that most review request texts sound like they were written by a lawyer or a robot. Customers ignore them, or worse, flag them as spam. Each one was written for a specific moment in the customer journey — right after the job wraps, after a big emergency, after a positive conversation — so the ask feels natural instead of forced.

What makes a great review SMS

Every template in this pack follows the same five rules. Break any of them and your response rate tanks.

Keep it under 140 characters

Anything longer gets split into two messages and feels like spam. Aim for one sentence plus the link.

Make one clear ask

Leave a review — that's it. No survey, no NPS score, no "tell us how we did" if you actually want the review.

Include a one-tap link

Send a smart link that routes to Google or Facebook based on where the customer is weakest. Never ask them to search for you.

Identify yourself immediately

First word should be your business name. Customers delete unknown numbers in two seconds.

Stay polite and low-pressure

"If you have a minute" beats "please leave us a review now." Give the customer a graceful out and they're more likely to say yes.

Variable placeholders

Each template uses curly-brace placeholders. Your CRM or Reveo automatically swaps in real values at send time. Here's what each one means:

{first_name} The customer's first name. Never use last name alone — too formal for SMS. {business_name} Your company name. Put it up front so the customer knows who's texting. {tech_name} The technician or crew lead who did the job. Personal shout-outs drive higher response rates. {review_link} A short, smart review link that routes to the best platform (Google, Facebook, Yelp) based on where you need reviews most.

When to use: Standard one-off job, sent 20–60 minutes after completion. Under 100 characters.

When to use: Default post-job ask. A little warmer than T1, still under 140 chars.

Template 3: Emergency / same-day job
When to use: After after-hours, emergency, or same-day calls where relief is the emotion.

Template 4: Recurring customer
When to use: Plumbing, HVAC, pest, or lawn maintenance customers on a recurring plan.
Hi {first_name}, {business_name} here. Appreciate you sticking with us! Would you share a quick review so more folks find our crew? {review_link}
Template 5: Referral-ready
When to use: Customer was clearly delighted — hugs, compliments, "you guys are the best."
{first_name}, it was a pleasure working with you today! If you're willing, a Google review from you would help {business_name} more than you know: {review_link}
Template 6: Technician-named
When to use: The customer connected well with a specific tech — call them out by name.
Hi {first_name}, it's {business_name}. {tech_name} said you were great to work with! If they earned it, a quick shout-out review makes their day: {review_link}
Template 7: Follow-up (24 hrs later)
When to use: 24 hours after the first ask if the customer didn't respond. Only send once.
{business_name}: just circling back, {first_name}! If you have a sec, a quick review would really help our team: {review_link} (reply STOP to opt out)
Template 8: Holiday / big project wrap
When to use: End-of-year thank-yous or the close of a large, multi-day project.
{first_name}, thank you for trusting {business_name} with your project this year! If you have a moment, a review would be the best gift: {review_link}
